Indian Republic Day Celebration in Vienna

On 26 January 2023, the traditional Republic Day celebration was held by the Embassy of India in Vienna.

The day dates back to 26 January 1950, when the Constitution of India came into force and declared the Indian state a Republic. The event this year was held in a hall of the former Ankerbrot factory in Vienna, which now houses mainly art galleries and function rooms. Vishwaguruji received an honorable invitation from the Indian Embassy and attended, accompanied by a group of Yoga in Daily Life students, and was warmly welcomed by the Ambassador and several Indian guests.

The Ambassador of India to Austria, His Excellency Jaydeep Mazumdar, opened the ceremony with the Indian national anthem, at the same time raising the Indian flag on the pole and opening it with a shower of flowers. He then read out Prime Minister Modi's message on the occasion.

After a short speech by the Ambassador, in which he highlighted India's global economic and cultural importance, a beautiful and rich cultural programme was presented. Special emphasis was placed on the modern adaptation and interpretation of India's traditional dance and music, especially the final performance, with a modern Rajasthani music group, sharing a lot of momentum and enthusiasm with the audience.

After the ceremony, the Indian Embassy provided an impressive example of Indian hospitality with a delicious vegetarian buffet.
